Here are some of the most common questions but if you’re not finding what you want, please reach out directly through our Contact Us page.

Q: What is this event?

A: School Revision: Trans Inclusion in Education is a day-long event that will start to imagine what school life for young, trans people could look like in the future. Taking place in a primary school in south London, on Saturday 11th of June from 9.30am – 4pm, the event will be planned around the daily life of gender variant school pupils. Read all about School Revision on our About page, check out the Schedule for each lesson and Speakers leading the day’s programme.

Q: Why are you organising it?

A: Our event fits into the national strategy changes recommended by the Women and Equalities Committee Trans Equality report published in January 2016, and will create a space where young trans people can feel aspirational, positive and supported fully, and importantly, where educators have the practical information and confidence needed to make their schools more inclusive of gender variant pupils. We’ve blogged about this in more detail here.

Q: Who’s organising it?

A: The event is organised by volunteers from the following: grassroots voluntary organisation Wipe Out Transphobia, not-for-profit Community Interest Company Gendered Intelligence, former teacher now campaigner Juno Roche and non-profit project All About Trans. It will be held with kind support for school and catering costs from National Union of Teachers (NUT), Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), and Hogan Lovells International Law Firm.

Q: How can I get a ticket?

A: This event is free to attend but space is limited within the primary school and each lesson is limited to 25 places. Our system is not based on first come first serve – we’re using a sign-up form to help us to monitor available places and create an environment with a diverse mix of people interested in trans inclusion in education.

You can use this form to register your interest and tell us which lessons you’d like to participate in on the day. If you have already expressed an interest in specific lessons, and signed up via Eventbrite, please fill out this form too. It gives you a chance to tell us more about your choices and why you’re keen to attend. Please note this does not guarantee you a place in your preferred lesson, but helps us to ensure each lesson has a range of people from diverse backgrounds with varying expertise.

Q: Where is School Revision taking place?

A: In LondonLark Hall Primary School – Smedley Street, Clapham, London SW4 6PH. The school is less than a ten minute walk from Stockwell Underground tube station (Northern and Victoria Lines) and a fifteen minute walk from Clapham North Underground tube station (Northern Line). Wandsworth Overground train station (overground and Southeastern) is also a ten minute walk away. Here’s a map. Please plan your journey in advance and be aware of changes in transport on the Saturday.

Q: Is there parking available?

A: There is parking available in the school grounds and parking on neighbouring streets. Please contact us to reserve a place in the school carpark.

Q: Will there be lunch?

A: Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. We will be in touch closer to the event requesting dietary requirements but please do get in touch if you have any specific questions.

Q: Do I need to bring anything?

A: Programmes and event packs will be provided on the day with information about the day, including ground rules and school ethos. Simply bring yourself and perhaps a pen!
